BiciTour tra i mulini a vento - BikeTour and windmills

Amsterdam e l'Olanda in genere sono qualificati come patria della bicicletta. Quando ti trovi a girare per la città a piedi devi fare attenzione a non  farti stendere dalle bici pazze. La gente del luogo dimostra grande sicurezza a destreggiarsi tra strade e piste ciclabili, ma i pedoni non sono molto rispettati. Per paura di finire nei guai e perderci tra ponti e canali, abbiamo evitato il noleggio bici in città e abbiamo invece organizzato una giornata dedicata all'escursione in bici di zone limitrofe.
Mio marito sentiva la mancanza del mezzo a due ruote e così l'ho accontentato 😏.

Primo step: procurarsi una bici a noleggio
Nei paraggi della stazione abbiamo trovato un delizioso noleggio bici con bar e piccolo divanetto con tavolino per attendere e spezzare l'attesa con un bel caffè caldo.
Bici, caschetto, lucchetto e via si può partire!

Secondo step: prendere il traghetto

Dietro alla stazione, zona porto, pedoni e bici lo possono sfruttare gratuitamente per raggiungere la riva opposta.
 

Terzo step: pistaaaaaaa!!!!

Si comincia a pedalare seriamente seguendo la pista ciclabile e il numero di riferimento dell'itinerario scelto e segnalato sulla cartina che vi hanno dato in dotazione al noleggio bici.

  

Per raggiungere Zaanse Schans e i suoi mulini ci siamo ritrovati a percorrere piste ciclabili un po' disperse e secondo me qualche indicazione per metterci meno tempo l'abbiamo mancata. Ma è stato più avventuroso così, anche se un pochino stancante. 

Tra lande desolate, mucche, piccole fattorie e casette che sembrano uscite dalle favole, ci siamo ritrovati anche in mezzo a una competizione sportiva amatoriale di bici da corsa e in mezzo ad una piccola tempesta da cui abbiamo anche provato a trovare riparo. Al primo tentativo un signore ci ha chiesto se eravamo dei terroristi...



Ma mi pare ovvio che certi personaggi non girino in bici.
Poi per fortuna abbiamo trovato una coppia che si stava preparando ad una gita fuori porta con la sua roulotte e che ci ha gentilmente aiutati a ritrovare la strada perduta.






Per pranzo siamo riusciti ad arrivare a Zaandam, una graziosa e piccola cittadina a metà strada dove ci siamo asciugati e rifocillati con un lauto pranzetto in un locale molto accogliente e che consiglio 't Groene Pandje.

Dopo esserci spanzati e aver recuperato le energie, siamo rimontati in sella alle nostre bici per raggiungere la meta finale: Zaanse Schans.

L'ingresso al villaggio è gratuito e solo in alcuni dei 6 mulini l'entrata è a pagamento e ad orari prestabiliti. Giunti alla meta ci siamo dati alla pazza gioia con le foto perché il panorama da cartolina si presta particolarmente.

Nonostante il vento freddo, abbiamo trovato il modo di scaldarci e la prima sosta l'abbiamo fatta al Cocoa Lab, dove oltre a fare un po' di shopping cioccolatoso, io mi sono concessa una cioccolata calda "fai da te" con piccoli e golosi marshmallows rosa e bianchi.

A parte i mulini e il negozio della cioccolata, ci sono altre piccole botteghe (formaggio, zoccolaio, stagnino).

Noi siamo entrati nella bottega dello zoccolaio, dove oltre a vendere i tipici e colorati zoccoli di legno olandesi, ti danno dimostrazione di come li realizzano.

 

Zaanse Schans è un paesino da vedere, ma mettete in conto che si tratta di una meta estremamente turistica e tanto è perfetto quanto sembra finto. Ma ci sta, il turismo è anche questo e a noi non è dispiaciuto per niente.

Per tornare verso Amsterdam abbiamo optato per il treno dalla stazione Koog-Zaandijk. Costo biglietto con la bici 6 euro. Nel periodo estivo ci sarebbe addirittura la possibilità di tornare verso la città direttamente da Zaanse Schans in traghetto.

Amsterdam, generally Holland are known and famous to be bike homeland.
When you walk around on foot in the city of Amsterdam, you have to pay great attention to the crazy bikers that ride all over the city without watching out for pedestrians. So as to avoid dangerous bikers, we decided to have a tour in the countryside.
My husband missed his faithful friend, his bike, and to make him happy we decided ti dedicate a whole day to a bike tour 😏.

First Step: rent a bike
Near the station we found a pretty bikes rental with a little bar inside to beat the cold weather outside and take a good Cappuccino. Bikes, helmets, lock and we can go!

Second Step: take the  ferry boat

Behind the train station, near the port, we took the ferry boat that is free of charge for pedestrians and bikers and that carries you to the other river.

Third Step: let's ride!!!!!!

Now we began riding seriously, following the bike path indicated on the map (given by the bikes rental). 

Maybe we took several times the wrong way to reach our final destination: Zaanse Schans. As a matter of fact we apparently wandered through a desolated countryside. But it had been an adventure that gave us the possibility to discover another little piece of Holland: cows, little farms with their windmills and pretty fairy tale houses. During our tour it began also raining pretty much and we needed help to find the right path to take. Finally we found a very kind couple who helped us. This after a strange encounter with a man who thought we were terrorists.

Lunch at Zaandam, a pretty and little town, halfway point of our tour. We ate at 't Groene Pandje      , a characteristic place where we had a special omelette and a sandwich.
After the break, we recovered our energy to reach the final destination: Zaanse Schans.

The entrance to the village is free and only in some of the 6 windmills the entry has to be paid or booked first. Once we were there we took many photos, 'cause the landscape is like a piece of art.

The first break there was in the Cocoa shop (CocoaLab), where the chocolate scent is inebriating and where you can make your own hot chocolate. Obviously that's what I made, adding little and colourful marshmallows.

In Zaanse Schans you can find other shops: cheese, clogs, tinsmith. As you can see, we chose the clogshop, where with clogs all around the retailers give a demonstration on how they realize the typical Holland clogs. 

Zaanse Schans is a little village that has to be seen, even if it can be considered too much turustic, almost a fake village created for tourists. I think that tourism is also this and I liked it.

At the end of the day we came back in Amsterdam taking the train at Koog-Zaandijk station. We paid a 6 euro ticket (person+bike). During the summer there's also the possibility to come to Amsterdam taking a ferry boat directly from Zaanse Schans.
